Apologetics 101

"Apologetics" was best described by my friend Cynthia: "It's kung-fu for Catholics!"

The study of Apologetics is the study of defending the Catholic Faith by achieving a fuller understanding of it.  It's an intellectual aspect of our Faith; for God has given us not only our hearts so that we can believe in Him, but our minds so that we can reason and understand as much as we can about Him.  Faith is an act of the heart, but also an act of the will, the reason, the mind.

In this series of "Apologetics 101" posts, I hope to share with you what I learned from a semester-long study of Apologetics.  Since I'm certainly no expert, I will frequently refer to Catholic Apologetics by Fr. John Laux to refresh my own memory and to deepen my own Faith and understanding.  I intend to summarize his eloquent, logical arguments in an enlightening, readable manner, and perhaps include some of my own analogies and personal anecdotes; things that I've reasoned out on my adventures as a Junior Theologian.

Sciamus Fidem vestrum!
(Let us know our Faith!)
