A common misconception is that Catholics are not allowed to read the Bible.
This is not true! Although it is a true fact that many Catholics do not know the Bible quite as well as many of our Protestant brothers and sisters,
we do read scripture. The readings and hymns at
every Mass are primarily scripture-based. If a Catholic attended Mass
every day for two years, they would hear the
entire Bible!
As Catholics, we follow both scripture and tradition, as it is written in 2 Thessalonians:
"So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter." (2:15)
